Wind turbine installations are growing across Massachusetts. Turbines like the one proposed for Winter Island have been erected in Hull and in Ipswich. Others are proposed for Swampscott, Beverly, and Lynn.
Good siting is essential to a successful wind project. Salem’s Renewable Energy Taskforce and its consultants are committed to doing “due diligence” and exploring every possible negative impact to ensure that, if a wind turbine is sited at Winter Island, it will not disturb nearby residents or limit recreational uses of the park.
